Led for three generations by members of the Lerman family, Camp Caribou offers boys ages 7-15 the opportunity to develop leadership skills and lifelong friendships while participating in athletic and creative activities in a beautiful lakefront setting in Winslow, Maine. Featuring more than 200 acres of private land and nearly two miles of private lakefront, Camp Caribou’s sports facilities include a nine-hole chipping golf course, a lacrosse field, and nearly a dozen tennis courts, as well as the memorable “Fenway Park” whiffle ball stadium.
The camp also maintains an arts and crafts facility. Located on the waterfront to provide boys with natural inspiration, the well-staffed facility has all the equipment needed to create woodworking, culinary arts, and photographic masterpieces. In addition to on-campus athletic and creative activities, Camp Caribou maintains a comprehensive wilderness program highlighted by overnight camping excursions, canoeing trips, and day hikes led by trained Maine state guides.
Camp Caribou is dedicated to breaking down social barriers and promoting understanding among boys from all backgrounds. To that end, the camp works to ensure that all boys have an opportunity to attend the camp regardless of socioeconomic situation. To promote opportunities for underserved populations, Camp Caribou has formed the Caribou Collaborative Initiative, a nonprofit organization that partners with groups throughout the Northeast to provide “camperships.”
